Abstract

The article reviews the use of transgenic crops in world agriculture by describing its economic, social and enviromental consequences. It is analyzed the potential negative effects of the transgenic technology on the human healt and the environment. This article reviews how several countries have developed warning actions such as the seed import restrictions. It is a emphazised the great dilemma of transgenic materials which requires the statement of biosecurity rules for plants, animals and microorganisms considering their agronomic, toxicological and enviromental implications in production and consumption.
