Estructura de la producción de la piscicultura de ornato del estado de Morelos y su relación con la diversidad de la oferta

Abstract. In this paper is analyzed the structure of the production of ornamental fishes of the state of Morelos and its relation with the profiles of the producers groups, their strategies of process management and the effect over the supply situation. The data used for the analysis were obtained from a survey applied to 54 producers, interviews to key informants and the information obtained from two planning workshops made with producers and representative people of the different links in the production process. The variables that groups the producers were identified trough discriminate analysis. The results shows that the production structure is concentrated in two families and four species of ornamental fishes. They also shows the existence of three kind of producers: intensive, semi intensive and extensive. The main variables that brings together groups of producers involve are the age of the farm, the number of cultured fish families and number of cultured species, this situation explains, in some measure the competition among the producers and the lack of diversification in the supply. The effect of this structure gives place to the low prices of their products.
