Sustentabilidad, comercio justo y equidad de género. Un estudio comparativo de dos organizaciones cafetaleras de Chiapas

Fair trade has among its main objectives the protection of the environment, the promotion of producers’ welfare and an increase in women´s opportunities for personal development. This article compares two coffee organizations of the state of Chiapas, the first is involved in the dynamics of fair trade (uposis) and the second is not (Cerro de la Sierra). It is argued that uposis women have derived greater benefits from their participation in the organization than their Cerro de la Sierra counterparts. The paper analyzes the kind of benefits obtained by women and explores the reasons that explain these differences.
