Abstract

Abstract. Classical swine fever virus is caused by a virus from the genus Pestivirus, family Flavivirida which is important in Mexico D.F. because it represents one of the main centers of swine concentration of the country; in this document several topics are reviewed: etiology, genetic and antigenic relationships of the virus, proprieties and resistance of the virus, and pathogeny. The disease can be presented in clinic acute, subacute, and chronic, transplacentary or congenital forms. Diagnostic is performed by virus isolation, tissue direct immunofl uorescence and ELISA test. There are several measures of immunization and prevention that must be considered for its control.
