La plantación forestal mixta
Una alternativa de producción campesina en Quintana Roo, México
Abstract
We evaluated a Forest Mixed Plantation in order to proporcionate options to abandoned agricultural/forest plots. Empirical evidence is collected on actual production and it is compared to the alternative proposed. A mixed forest plantation whit an optimal plantation density, in a medium quality soil site, during a 20 years period, has an annual yield of: 4.15 m3 roundwood yield of cedar (cedrela odorata), 21.5 post of chacté (Caesalpinia violacea), 3,526 leaves of huano (Sabal yapa), 28 plants of xiat (chamaedorea seifrizii) and 16 plants of despeinada (Beaucarnea pliabilis). Investment costs are $6,000.00 pesos/ha. The net present value (NPV) is $144.00 pesos, the benefit/cost (B/C) ratio is low (18.62%). Huano has a potential revenue contribution of 57%, cedar 27% and xiat 10%
