The analysis of the structure, floristic composition, distribution and relation with environmental factors of the forest communities in Center for the Conservation and Investigation of the Wild Life (CIVS) San Cayetano, State of Mexico was conducted. During 2011 and 2012, 23 sites were sampled, in which trees with DBH equal to or greater than 7.5 cm and a minimum height of 1.3 m were measured. The classification of communities was done with twinspan and they were ordered with a Canonical Correspondence Analysis to establish the relationship with environmental factors. The map of vegetation and land uses was prepared through a supervised classification with Rapid Eye satellite images of 2011, 2012 and 2013. There were 24 species of trees, 17 genera and 15 families, included in five forest communities and mapped in four. It was found that the altitude showed the most consistent relationship with the distribution of tree communities. CIVS San Cayetano is covered by temperate forest in an acceptable state of conservation, making it an area representative of the region’s forests.
