Abstarct. Morphometric discrimination of candidates of ornamental interest in the tiger barb (Puntius tetrazona) was this work’s objective. Organisms were obtained from 51 spawning at a commercial farm. Three weeks after pawning 150 organisms were drive to a genetic nucleus (lab) and 450 more were distributed along the farm. At 17th week they were anaesthetized to sized 30 measures grouped as corporal, those of fins and marks measures, evaluated through digital images and then analyzed with a principal component multivariate model to detect the measures that explain at least 80% of variation from every group of characters; a lineal model were used to find differences between sex and grown up places in selected variables. Results shows variability on the beauty related characteristics of P. tetrazona, alike effects environmental related to them. Besides the number of candidates to selection character was reduced, opening the possibility to employ breeding programs focused on ornamental interest characters of P. tetrazona.
