Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to develop the conditions that strengthen the mechanisms for conversion and creation of knowledge of small-scale ornamental fish farms. The knowledge that allows the operation of 13 ornamental fish farm from the State of Morelos, Mexico was analyzed from a conceptual and methodological frame of the theory of knowledge. We found that the aqua culturists have a wide but inefficient tacit knowledge based on particularities of the ornamental aquaculture, on their training features, and also on their organizational efforts. A problem detected is that the system of conversion from tacit to explicit knowledge of the aquaculturists is limited and stops their development. A number of alternatives to facilitate such knowledge conversion are discussed.
