Abstract

Convolvulus arvensis is one of the most noxious weeds to agriculture, in addition to produce allelopathic chemicals, interfering with the cultivated plants so the effect of aqueous extract of different parts of C. arvensis in seeds of Medicago sativa L, Triticum aestivum L. and Cicer arietinum L. was evaluated by bioassays in vitro. The results indicate that the effect of each treatment depends on the plant species; in M. sativa reduces the length of the root; in T. aestivum and C. arientinum decreases the percentage of germination. In M. sativa, the flower of C. arvensis is the part with the largest allelopathic effect on the plant species; feature that increases the harmful effect on cultivated plants.
