The advances in adapting, culturing and managing of deciduous fruti in tropical highlands of Guatemala are remarkable in comparison whit the fruti culturing development in central and eastern regions of Veracruz. In regions whit altitudes between 900 and 1,300 m such fruit species as Macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia Maiden and Betche), pitahaya (Hylocereus undatus and H. Triangularis) and starfruit (Averrhoa carambola L.) are commercially cultivated. Comparatively, the study of Guatemalan fruitgrowing is important to propose and plan part of agriculture of tropical highlands in Veracruz, México where there is a potential for a commercial development of various subtropical fruit species that reach prices in national urban markets.
