Abstract

Abstract. In October 2008 the seminar “Rural women vis-a-vis the food crisis” was organized as part of the Sin maíz no hay país campaign. Using this seminar as a basis, 96 this paper analyzes the spaces where peasant women´s lives take place, their everyday practices regarding food production, preparation and consumption, the kind of government programs they are eligible for and their possible contributions to a food crisis of planetary dimensions. Up to the present day, the discussion on the food crisis has excluded rural women. The paper makes them visible and offers some ideas and hypotheses on the issue.
