Abstract

Since 90´s decade it was clear that having sustainable regional ecosystems is the fundamental challenge for the conservation and management of natural resources and environmental services. Planning sustainable management leads to accept that disciplinary perspective about environmental problems has produced both, partial and unsuccessful solutions. That is why a new epistemological approach is required to tackle them. In this context, this essay has the purpose of exploring the influence of the transdisciplinary approach over the conservation and natural resources management paradigms. This approach is outlined as appropriate to support analysis and planning of natural resources and environmental services management, due to its interest in giving priority to the solution of present and socially relevant problems. Also because it incorporates the expert concept under a new meaning, it is focused in researching a common goal, and looks for sharing information and results with stakeholders and policy makers.
