Diagnóstico de la sustentabilidad agrícola del cultivo del durazno en Tetela del Volcán, estado de Morelos, México

Abstract

Eventhough agriculture has a significant impact on natural resources and environment; it is a key sector for hunger and poverty decrease. FAO considers developing a sustainable agriculture as an undeferable challenge to meet food demands for the next 25 years. Sustainable agriculture meets these demands, enhances quality of life, protects natural systems integrity, and it is economically profitable. Moving towards it involves changes related to life styles, agricultural management practices and institutional policies. In this context, the objective of this paper is to make a diagnosis regarding agricultural sustainability of peach crop in Tetela del Volcán municipality. The significance of this research is in determining if there exist or not threats against sustainability, delivered from an economically profitable crop, to be used as a basis to design new strategies for peach cultivation, which can be included in the municipal agenda.
