El vínculo entre el Estado y las Empresas Transnacionales en el Desarrollo de la Biotecnología Agrícola y Propiedad Intelectual. Refuncionalización del Estado en su vínculo con las grandes empresas transnacionales

Resumen

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el papel que ha tenido el Estado norteamericano en el desarrollo de la biotecnología agrícola moderna y cómo es que ha refuncionalizado su papel para fomentar el avance de esta tecnología en manos de las grandes empresas transnacionales, incluido el sistema de propiedad intelectual. El trabajo se centra en explicar el papel de apoyo del gobierno estadounidense al sector agrícola y al sistema de propiedad intelectual asociado, beneficiando, en gran parte, a empresas transnacionales, como ejemplo, Monsanto. Se analiza también el papel del Estado mexicano en el desarrollo de la biotecnología agrícola moderna y las estrategias de producción y comercialización de la misma empresa: Monsanto. Organizaciones no gubernamentales han realizado un papel de contraposición, cuestionando los efectos adversos al ambiente y a la salud humana y animal de la biotecnología agrícola moderna.

The objective of this article is to analyze the role that the North American State has played in the development of modern agricultural biotechnology and how it has re-rationalized its role in promoting the development of this technology in the hands of large transnational corporations, including the system of intellectual property. The work focuses on explaining the supportive role of the US government to the agricultural sector and intellectual property system associated with the development of modern agricultural biotechnology, benefiting, to a large extent, transnational corporations such as Monsanto. The role of the Mexican State in the development of modern agricultural biotechnology and the role of the transnational biotechnological company itself is also analyzed: Monsanto and its production and marketing strategies for its crops.
